On March 16, rally with BC Health Coalition and tell Hedy Fry: Enforce the Canada Health Act.

From the BC Health Coalition website, and invitation and a call to action.

On Monday, March 16 at 10:00 AM, we’re rallying nationwide at MPs’ offices to demand they stand up for universal public health care.

One health card for all of us. That was the central victory of the medicare movement led by Tommy Douglas. It replaced a patchwork of private insurance tied to employment or personal wealth with a single public plan that guaranteed access based on need, not the ability to pay.

Alberta’s legislation would end that legacy and opens the door to U.S.-style, for-profit medicine. Yet the federal government appears willing to quietly allow universal single-payer health care to be dismantled rather than confront Alberta.

That is why health coalitions across the country are organizing rallies at constituency offices and asking a simple question: Will our MPs break the silence and enforce the Canada Health Act? When patients, health workers, and communities speak out together, the political cost of inaction rises and the federal government will be forced to enforce its own law.

Universal, single-payer public health care belongs to all of us. And it will take all of us to defend it.
