From the Fight for $15 Campaign: On April 15th, we joined thousands of workers around the world protesting for a fair minimum wage. In BC, there were events at six McDonald’s locations in the Lower Mainland as well as events in Victoria, New Westminster and Penticton. From Vancouver to Tokyo workers sent the message that low pay is not ok. The energy is growing, and public support is high. People get it - if you work full-time you shouldn’t be left in poverty. We are excited to announce that our next Fight for $15 event will be on May 1st in Vancouver. This year's May Day March and Rally will have a Fight for $15 theme. The event is co-sponsored by the BCFED and the Vancouver and District Labour Council. After the rally join us at Wise Hall for music and refreshments. The first 50 low-wage workers will get in for free. Others who bring a sticker from the rally will get $2 off at the door. For more information and to RSVP visit our Facebook Event. Also, if you are in the South Okanagan, there will be a minimum wage panel discussion in Penticton on May 1st, featuring Aaron Ekman, Secretary Treasurer of the BC Federation of Labour. The event is hosted by the South Okanagan Boundary Labour Council. For more information visit their website. Let’s build an economy that works for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events. BCFED
