What happened?

The BC government recently announced it will bring into force the Medicare Protection Amendment Act (Bill 92) in order to protect patients from unlawful private fees.

Prior to that, the government also announced a comprehensive strategy and ongoing funding to reduce wait times in surgeries and diagnostic imaging.

And just this week, the court case launched by Brian Day, the for-profit clinic CEO, resumed--if he wins, it could undermine the foundations of Canadian public health care.

To make sense of all these recent events, the BC Health Coalition is holding a teach-in to help explain what this all means for our public health system and why it matters.·Will you join us? RSVP by clicking here.

What is a “teach-in”?

Teach-ins were used as a popular education tool and a form of non-violent protest by organizers in the 1960s in the context of the Vietnam·War to educate and activate people around the civil rights and anti-war movements. Teach-ins are not only educational but also aim to agitate and promote action.
