MP Peter Julian issues Op Ed for Seniors Week

This week from June 6th to 12th, we are celebrating Seniors week in B.C. I would like to thank all seniors for the contributions they have made to our communities and the country. 

This year’s Seniors Week is especially important, as we take a moment to reflect on the tremendous hardship’s seniors have faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the pandemic we have seen seniors and elders face greater challenges. We have seen the neglect and devastating losses of seniors in long-term care centers across the country. Many seniors are still unable to afford basic necessities like prescription medications and dental services. As the Member of Parliament for New Westminster – Burnaby, I pledge to continue fighting for seniors & to continue addressing the gaps seniors are facing in Canada. The best way to honour seniors is to keep our words and to ensure that their needs are being met now and in the future. 

I would also like to thank the BC Federation of the Retired Union Members (BC Forum), Council of Senior Citizens Organization of B.C.(COSCO) and many other senior-led volunteer organizations in BC and across Canada. Thank you for being front and center in advocating and helping seniors. Your work continues to make a big difference in our communities!
